Is a trademark needed?

@aregm said in gh-2: ".... Better to be a free specification to be used by all interested parties, but closed to the change and rebranding."
The rebranding part of that seems to suggest using a trademark. I'm not too worried about this early on (it's hard to get people to put significant effort into this stuff), but it's a conversation worth having now indeed.

I think both the likelihood of someone trying to take any brand we create and the possible damage that could do is very small, so I'm not too worried.

No one seems to be worried about this, nor has it been brought up again since 2020. So closing this issue - we can always revisit it in the future if there's a concrete need to do so. Thanks all!
