How long does the location change work for, will it stop as soon as I unplug my phone from my laptop ? or will it stay like that until the phone is restarted?
so far it changes back as soon as I unplug my phone from my laptop?

It resets as soon as you unplug. That is an iOS 18 "feature"
iOS17 location would remain spoofed
