Versions Issue + Current State

on linux 4.6 x86_64 ; libpurple 2.11

2 days ago, the plugin stopped working for me, giving error message: "server closed connection", then "not authorized".
I tried changing version to Android-2.12.445 but no joy, tried a few more recent version numbers and still nothing.

(My number/account is not banned, able to use whatsapp via an emulator [but that's more of a temp solution for me]).

Any users here successfully running the whatsapp-purple plugin currently and if so, can you please post your settings, including "whatsapp version" and server/port?

Another problem I've had is messages mostly incoming (but sometimes outgoing as well) get delayed significantly, hours at times.

Lastly, does anyone know current status re. development, i.e. has anyone come forward to pick up where David left off? Failing that, what are some alternative solutions which actually work without having to have whatsapp on one's cell phone and work "natively" as opposed to emulator or hypervisor? (Can you please provided exact details if you can about the exact solution/alternative?) Thanks.

hi
try to see if my findings here helps ;)

@caccamo88
I did read and try it before posting here but unfortunately, no joy....

the "secret" is to run whatsapp* with no issues from a real telephone (of course using the same mobile number will use on pidgin) and "extract" the password. If not able in these steps can't go on.
*unfortunately new version can't works, me always used 2.12.419 but recently prompt was too obsolete and tried 2.12.445 but could works also lower versions

@caccamo88
you're misreading my original post.
I have all necessary information, password, etc.; extracted with yowsup and that works perfectly.
Also I am able to run whatsapp in a virtual machine using an "android emulator".
The issue is with this plugin here....whatsapp-purple and I sure favor using it over all other solutions. That is why I am looking for a fix.

I think have understood perfectly: you not able to run no more with the plugin.
To me too sometimes "suddenly" stop to work and always is a mess to understand why, until have found (my) solution have shared, sorry don't work for you!

hi @stef204 I think is the end...
today suddenly "not-authorized" message, went back to smartphone whatsapp and it close itself after say me version was obsolete since 9 June (not bad thing, they always realized weeks later). In past they wold let you use the same the obsolete version but now no more and this is the problem.
Tried version 2-12-451 but said "obsolete since 11 June", finally starting from versions 2.12.500 were fine (2.12.500 become obsolete 1st July and so on).
But no way to make it works :( probably is a Resource field matter, need help too

Is there a resource string that works currently? Please share.
Also, is this comment correct? #308 (comment)
