Not able to set Client ID

I've sideloaded the apk on my Nvidia Shield TV (running android tv 8.0.

After setting up the broker inside the app it doesn't connect. On my mosquitto broker I get the following log entries;

1530619895: New connection from 10.254.10.32 on port 1883.
1530619895: Socket error on client <unknown>, disconnecting.

I think it has something to do with the Client ID. When I set the Client ID in the app it seems not to be saved.

Hey, I have not tested the app on Android TV. Let me see if I can do the same.

Hey, I tested the app by emulating Android TV on Android Studio.

I do not have access to Nvidia Shield TV so can't test on that.

Please share a video demonstration of the issue.
