Is there any way I can use it to log in with my verification code?

FB is forcing two-factor authentication on some by 15 Sep: SMS, 'app', or physical key (see below).

With this, do they still lock out users when using third party clients?

I don't understand what to do here. Where do i find that Facebook Protect option?

Did anybody manage to log in with SMS code? I don't know where to enter that.
The wiki says about "per app passwords" but I can't see such option in my Settings.

I did not find any solution that works. Unfortunately, Facebook does not support dedicated usernames and passwords for applications anymore. Disabling the 2FA, I don't see as a safe option.

I am currently running into this issue myelf and looking into it.

in case anyone else finds this or it is still a concern, you can log in through a browser and turn off 2FA and then connect pidgin, then turn 2FA on again and pidgin stays connected. I do not know if this will be temporary or not but it seems to work as an authorized connection.
