Am i missing something i can't get this to work. Even using the sample options.php wouldn't work when clicking it or after clicking save

You need to enqueue the inline JS too. It's just an example of how you'd do something like that, not a built-in option feature: https://github.com/devinsays/options-framework-theme/blob/master/functions.php#L17
