The SIGINT handler kicks in only a few seconds after the signal has been delivered.

When attempting to stop VW with CTRL+C, there is a lag of a few seconds before the handler is executed.
This should not be the case.

Actually, this might be a TK problem, rather than a problem of our code. A more thorough investigation is needed.
