Firefox 49 Electrolysis - Multiprocess support

Opened this issue ยท 15 comments

Any chance on getting an update that moves this plugin into multiprocess supported status?

The compatibility reporter is showing the status of this plugin as currently not supported for multiprocess electrolysis.

the github extension installer doesn't seem to work, I've never compiled an xpi from github repo so I'll have to research testing the latest code later. I've added this string: "https://github.com/diegocr/CleanLinks" to the PR Repos in the addon configuraton but it doesn't present me with the button so i can't install it.

It`s quite simple, even I can do it and know nothing of anything

Just download the zip file (Clone or Download button)

  1. Unpack it somewhere
  2. Select all the contents inside - just the contents and NOT the folder !
  3. Zip those up renaming to XPI instead of zip (7zip I used)

Then you will have the latest which is 2.8a1

(I failed using the github installer as well)

thanks for the tips, i performed the steps but unfortunately FF 49 disables the installation of unsigned addons, it's extremely annoying . I tried the workaround of setting signature verification off, but it is still blocking it. I hate Firefox so much now, not only is it dog slow but now I can't even disable it's stupid security measure for testing purposes.

Ah, Im using CyberFox which doesnt have that restriction.

I know what you mean about the Fox generally though, its getting way beyond a joke now - so much stuff to disable, needing to check all the new prefs each release to make sure they arent doing anything sneaky.

Firefox jumped the shark at version 4 in my opinion - except, for me, there is currently no viable alternative.

I installed the unbranded nightly 49 release and was able to install 2.8a1 version from github. the addon compatibility reporter still says that the addon is not compatible.

๐Ÿ‘ I'm waiting for an official update (especially since @Lcstyle reports the master branch shows up as 'not compatible' anyway).

Any news on adding e10s support?

Still waiting.

Count me in too.

yup, there is more of us

Include me! I even emailed the developer. No reply of course.

I have a backup plan if this add-on is never updated.

I made signed addon from latest master. Note that you may need to remove .zip from the end of filename to install it. I also had to change addon GUID in order to get it signed therefore you will have to manually remove old addon before installing this one. Cheers.

Still doesn't work with e10s. I just tried.

Well it looks like the end of Clean Links come April 18th.

starting with Firefox 53 (slated for release on April 18), non-WebExtensions add-ons will no longer be accepted for signing / display on Mozilla's add-on site
