Status of this project?

Hi folks,
I'm currently investigating IIIF rendering options, and really like the proposition that Canvas Panel sits between OSD / Leaflet / OpenLayers etc at the 'build it yourself' end of the scale, and Mirador et al at the other.
What's the status of this project? Are you actively developing it? I can see you did a release last year to NPM as canvas-panel-beta, but there aren't many commits recently other than maintenance version bumps. I assume you're using this in production - what are your views on other projects adopting it? Or is this more of a testbed for IIIF ideas, and not really 'production ready'?
Thanks
Ed
Hi Ed,
We haven't been actively developing it recently but will very soon be starting on an effort to make just the kind of component/toolkit you describe. This will start by documenting development scenarios... "as a developer, what's the shape of the component or library I need here to make this complex thing easy?"
We aim to have something ready by the end of Summer. We'll document the use cases (or developer-stories) and invite contributions. For now, if you do have a developer story you could share, we'd be glad to hear it.
We've added a label developer-story
to these issues for this purpose.
See also https://canvas-panel.digirati.com/developer-stories/, although that thinking is maybe quite out of date. These are the kinds of API/library usage interactions we want to understand... what do you want to be in control of and what do you want to forget about...?
