The "source" terminology is more in line with Citeproc's terminology and documentation.

Also, a "reference" implies that it has to be referred to somewhere, when in fact it doesn't need to be. A bibliography could just be a compiled list of bibliographic sources, not necessarily a list of works cited, references, etc.
