Some styles go, others don't so I suspect one method works and the other doesn't (as we've mixed)

Check if withStyles OR import 'xxx.module.css' works better with portals.

Whoops, bit premature closing this. The SVGs don't seem to transfer and there's a weird font-feature-settings="s2sc" coming in from somewhere.
