Grows on the side of trees:
- Alder
- Ash
- Beech
- Birch
- Chestnut
- Hazel
- Hickory
- (American) Hornbeam
- Maple
- Oak/Dark Oak
- Pecan
Can also generate on the side of Netherrack.
Start as white knobs and grow out to be flat caps. Caps are orange-yellow to brownish. Bitter oysters are biolumnescent, glowing green up to light level 12. They are non-edible but not poisonous. They have been used as a medicine to stop bleeding. They cause _white rot _ in trees - the wood becomes pale white and is destroyed upon harvesting without silk touch.
