Can you increase the code highlighting function?

I can't see how I can add this and keep it minimalist. As an example I tried adding markdown functionality, but I couldn't find an implementation that would also keep the size small. Unfortunately it is going to be the same with code highlighting. But if you can implement it then feel free to fork or contribute. Thanks, Dom
