Listen to understand
When I can have an argument that convinces people, I will join their cause, I'll try to make their idea my own and defend it. Then if I have issues with it, I'll ask the other one some open questions related with my doubts and see where that goes
The point of the discussion is not for us to be right and gain the argument, but to make the other people comfortable and happy with our interaction.

Some people are more articulated than others
Sometimes it's not the best idea that wins, but the one that is best defended
