Tumblr archive photo zoom rarely working anymore

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Visit a tumblr blog, particularly one with a lot of photography
2. Go to the 'archive' (add /archive after the root)
3. Hovering over images used to work nearly 100% of the time. In the last few
weeks, it now only works about 20% of the time.
Hover Zoom version: latest
Google Chrome version: latest
Operating system: OS X 10.8.2

Here's an example of what I mean. In providing this, I did notice that it seems
to be occurring on more recently posted photos. So the photos at the top, all
posted between December 10th and 13th, won't zoom. However, if you start to
move down further, photos posted from December 6th and earlier do zoom. Maybe
Tumblr made a change?
