Fn keys no longer mappable as hotkeys on macOS Ventura

Our family were given a early 2015 MacBook Pro (MacBookPro12,1) for free on the thought that it had a defective motherboard, luckily the SSD wasn't soldered to the board so after noticing some corrosion it was swapped for a bigger module and stopped showing the question mark folder so unfortunate for them their data was a lost cause. I was able to keep it after, and I decided to update to Ventura after the cut-off from Monterey it worked well enough. There was an initial bug where Facetime calls would stay up even after they rang through, but updating the version past GM in later months solved that. But now, there's been some considerable slowdowns happening where the laptop gets sluggish with fans blasting and I have to turn it off forcibly. After I did that just a few days ago, the video acceleration driver completely broke so gray elements appeared black like if Safe Mode was initiated. I subsequently got a prompt to update to the latest OpenCore which after I did, fixed that problem but now when I used to be able to use the Fn hotkeys it acts as if I am holding the according "Fn" key off to the bottom left side in conjuction regardless of if I actually am. I am on the default configuration and so I don't believe the identifiable logs should be necessary since this behavior wasn't exhibited until after the update, and now it is an annoying hindrance each time I want to adjust the volume or brightness without having to manually go into the Control Center. I appreciate the project and being part of the everdeveloping nature of its work by trying out the public releases, but I would rather stay on Ventura in my circumstance since Sonoma seems better suited for late 2017 to mid 2018 systems at the earliest.
