update does not seem to register ...

When I log in as administrator and go to Admin--> Extension manager I see a notification indicating there's an update available dated 2018. I've tried running the update, and I also tried un installing the plugin then manually installing it again (both through the URL and as a download file). Both times it seems like the update doesn't register, even though the installation appears to complete successfully. When I look at the note regarding the update I see this text:

2013-10-09

Your last update:
Wed, 26 Aug 2020 12:29:32 -0500

Available version:
2018-07-16

So, even though I installed 2018-07-16 update several times it doesn't seem to be registering it at all.
