Problem trying to translate to Spanish

Opened this issue · 3 comments

Good morning, sorry my English, it's google translation.
First of all, sorry if this space is not suitable for my post.

I want to ask about the possibility of generating a Spanish translation; I have read the file information "IMathAS/i18n/translating.md", but when doing the step that follows the creation of the ".po" file

git ls-tree -r master --name-only | grep -E '(php|js)$' | grep -v 'i18n/' | xargs xgettext -d es -p i18n -j --from-code=UTF-8

my ssh client gives me this error:

xargs: xgettext: No such file or directory

I am on a shared server and I intend to implement IMathAS with my students.

Will I be able to fix the problem or is there an alternative method to create the "es.po" file?

Thanks for your time and great work.

I would guess that your server doesn't have xgettext installed.

What I can do is go ahead and generate the .po file and add it to the repository, then you can edit it and add the translations. If you do that, I would love to get back a copy once you've translated it to add to the system. I'm happy to take care of the remaining steps of compiling the .po file and extracting the javascript messages if you do that.

To get the new assessment interface translated as well, you'll also want to copy /assess2/vue-src/src/locales/en.json to a es.json copy and translate the messages there. Again if you do the translation and get me a copy, I can take care of recompiling the vue front-end to utilize the translations.

I also assumed that, however, in the settings it appeared installed, it could be false, that does not matter.

I am very grateful that you facilitate my task, I will gladly work on the translations and I will be aware of the steps so that I can recover them and continue the process.

I would also be interested in working on the translation of the new evaluation interface, I will get to work and I appreciate the support.

You can use my translator at https://netmath.vcrp.de/services/translator/ to translate the language file assess2/vue-src/src/locales/en.json for the new assessment interface. Create an empty ( i.e. with content {}) es.json file as target for translation. To be used it must be compiled as David said.
