Roles

  1. Officers
  • Acting Admin - technical position, implements the will of the editorial board (eg site maintenance)
  • Secretary
  • Active Partner Liaison
  1. Editorial Board - excepts/rejects new blog posts, defines direction of development, votes on house keeping issues, confirms an Acting Admin, meets for regular board sessions, must demonstrate active participation to remain an active member of the board.

  2. Contributor - must have your own website, plus at least one accepted post in the last year to remain an active contributor

Editorial Board

  • ultimate source of political power for this organization
  • confirms officers
  • editorial board aspires to build a sense of community
  • meets face to face regularly
  • votes on issues of importance to the current and future development of the blog site and community (events, editorial policy, officer positions)
  • members of the editorial board can fill officer positions: secretary, acting admin, active partner liaison
  • decides structural organization and appearance of the website
  • votes on changes to vision and mission statement and editorial policy

Acting Admin

  • site administration
  • responsible for posting new content to the online version of the website (pushes new posts by serving the site)
  • confirmed by the editorial board
  • this is a rotating position, to be confirmed at the annual meeting

Secretary (officer position to be implemented at a later date)

  • organizes meetings between board members
  • administrator/community organizer (events/functions/arranging meetings/running schedules)
  • this is a rotating position, to be confirmed at the annual meeting

Active Partner Liaison (officer position to be implemented at a later date)

  • seeks out new partners, new projects
  • liaises with granting agencies, and current partners
  • this is a rotating position, to be confirmed at the annual meeting

Tiers of Membership

  • Officer
  • Editor
  • (Reviewer, to be implemented when critical mass is reached, can review, is not a member of the editorial board, no voting privileges)
