Maybe I'm being dumb, though I have already added other repositories

But I get the following error message when trying to add
https://github.com/dummylabs/thewatchman

https://github.com/dummylabs/thewatchman is not a valid add-on repository

This is not an add-on, it is a custom integration. See Quick start section in README. You'll either need HACS or install it manually in custom_components/.
You might also want to check out this fork: https://github.com/andreasbrett/thewatchman/ and install its beta release instead as this repository seems to have gone stale and has multiple unresolved issues.

The fix from the fork was incorporated into main branch of watchmen.
