Cart Total not updated if user clicks continue shopping

Steps to reproduce:

1. go to a product page: http://demo.cart42.com/en-US/Product/18/the-answer-42-t-shirt-png-t-shirt
2. add this item to the cart
3. click the continue shopping button

expected result: the number of items in car <span id="cart-total">2 item(s)</span> should be updated
actual result: the item is only updated after for example the page is reloaded
