Repository is missing tags and/or branches

It is unclear to me which state of the repository made up e.g. the 1.5 release, or what there currently is on master. Repositories which do releases tend to use tags and/or release branches, and I think this would help here as well.

I pushed the current release/1.5 branch which was used to build the lastest 1.5 release.
