Not seeing events in elementary calendar app

What Happened?
I've signed in successfully with my google account and have been using it pretty fine with every other app which required it and I even received emails. But as soon as i go into the calendar app and set an event it doesn't show up and my account is synced with the app properly because when i toggle on and off holiday notifications they disappear then reappear. So its safe to say that the email is connected properly. I've also noticed the same for the gnome calendar app.
Steps to Reproduce
Open the calendar app
Set up an event with details, then hit save or set event.
And.....nothing happens. It's not set.
Expected Behavior
The event should be set and appear in red to indicate there's an event on this date. But instead, nothing.
