Not sure why the fallback method didn't work in this case.
I can reproduce this, it seems that despite testing all of the item textures, some entity textures don't work properly using the fallback method, such as in-world item frames, and more.

Adding the vintagefix-0.3.1-12-ge35a0ed
works. The item frames loads the texture correctly.
