What's the purpose of ignoreJSHintError?

I found this old comment 36a40ad#commitcomment-3732396 but I can't figure out why shallowCopy and lowerBound are even in the code. Searching for them turns up nothing and removing them doesn't fail the tests.

ignoreJSHintError was removed in 67ecd9f.
