"ETHD KEYS IMPORT" crashes my machine and I need to restart

rainingcrypto opened this issue · 5 comments

As the title suggest, I'm having trouble importing my keys when running ETHD KEYS IMPORT. System crashes and I need to force restart.

Running on Ubuntu Jammy CLI, Radxa Rock 5b, 32GB RAM, normal quick install, machine fully updated, 4tb PCIE 4.0 NVME. NOATIME is enabled.

Running NETHERMIND and LODESTAR. As I type this out, I'll try to reconfigure using Nimbus to see if that helps.

Please help, as my validators have been offline for a few days, and just when I'm about to get back online - BAM - God strikes me down.
Thank you Eth-Docker - for the easier and best Eth2 node solution out there.

EDIT 2: Seems to be happening with Lodestar only - Keys have been successfully imported to Nimbus.

Do you have any hints on what might have caused the server to crash? When importing keystores those are decrypted by the client in worker pools which puts high load on the CPU and increases memory usage slightly. However, I have not seen this cause a server to crash and your system has plenty of memory as well.

I'll try to get some logs. For now I'll let it sync. Thanks a lot for the fast response brother. Eth-docker is simply the best.

My Rock was running on a corrupt distro, and now I'm good.

Thanks for all of your help.

Were you be able to get Lodestar to work? Maybe the execution of the BLS library caused your system to crash
