Filter out certain Entry Types from the Sitemap

I have certain Entry types within a Section that I want to exclude from the Sitemap. This doesn't seem possible in CP. Does anyone know a way to filter out items with a certain pattern (based on Entry Type, URL structure, or entry field value?).

Edit: it seems possible with SEO field, but I would rather hook into some feature in the underlying structure.
