In auth workflows, what happens when email verification code expires?

In the auth workflow design pattern, there should be a screen describing what shall happen when the code has expired. Likely a dialog box saying "xxx has expired, please click the resend email button to request another verification code" (or whatever is implemented in the auth workflow)
