Setting PREFIX not working as expected

Expected Behavior
PREFIX is configure if specified
Actual Behavior
PREFIX is not contained in the final interface configuration though specified.
Additionally it is possible to set $netmask and $prefix though only either of them should be used. If this was than, the netmask AND the prefix were in the final interface output.
