vlsub unable to load subtitles

vlc 3.0 with the latest vlsub release. it doesn't decompress the subtitle after the download. it just gets stuck at 100% and makes null subtitle file with the same name.
Same here.
Xubuntu 20.04
VLC : 3.0.9.2 Vetinari
VLSub : 0.11.1
Message : "Error" "Unable to open the file"
The compressed subtitle is found and downloaded, but not decompressed nor loaded in VLC.
Not sure but it could be since I upgraded Xubuntu from 19.10 to 20.04
I vaguely remember that I had a similar problem some years ago, can't remember the details though.

I tried several different versions and I encountered different problems/bugs with each of them. But finally I found a version which works perfectly fine in official VLC repository. I downloaded this exact version of the VLC and copied /share/lua/extensions/VLSub.lua file to my extensions folder:
https://github.com/videolan/vlc/releases/tag/4.0-dev
This one is working fine for me and I hope it works for you as well.
@rasitayaz
I have signed in specially to write thank you! :)
Same here for Xubuntu 20.04, VLC 3.0.9.2, VLsub 0.10.2
It's looks like the program can't unzip files. Works only manually.
Same i have the same problem even if i download it myself and add it manually when I select it nothing appears.
VLC media player 3.0.16 Vetinari (revision 3.0.13-8-g41878ff4f2)
I was trying to load a .ass subtitle that the translating team i work made it. we tested other apps. only vlc can't show it. or even download.
here is the link to the subtitle
Hi,
Running Vlsub v11.1 - seems that since recently updating vlc to version 3.0.21, the plugin has a glitch...
When I click "Search by name", several results appear, however when I click "Download selection", the error message, "Unable to load subtitles" is displayed.
Can anyone assist?
Should I revert Vlc versions?
Thanks in advance...
Edit: in case it's relevant, I do have my OpenSubtitles username & password stored in the Vlsub config.
My OS is Win10.
I've updated to VLC 3.0.21 and run Vlsub 0.11.1.
The subtitle downloads have worked for me.
It may not matter, but I do not have my OpenSubtitles username and password stored in the config.
Thanks for the feedback...
========================
Error persists on my end - if anyone can assist, it'd be appreciated.
Worth mentioning: when going into Show Config and changing "What to do with subtitles" from "Load and save" to "Manual download" then going back and clicking "Download selection", a working dl link is provided. So it's a temporary workaround, but fixing Load & Save would still be ideal.
Can anyone assist with this? 🙏
