Mod version: ezGingerbread-beta.20110626-1
Kernel version: 2.6.36.4-s3-ezgb-v1.5 ezterry@zack #1

Issue also occurs with original kernel supplied with ezGingerbread-beta.20110626-1

How to reproduce:

  • power off
  • power on
  • enable location by GPS, but not by wireless networks
  • launch Google Maps
  • at this point location is found, GPS appears to work well
  • exit Google Maps
  • disable location by GPS
  • launch Google Maps
  • as expected, location is not found, since there are no location services enabled
  • exit Google Maps
  • enable location by GPS
  • launch Google Maps
  • (this is the issue) the GPS status icon never appears and Google maps cannot find location

(by 'exit Google Maps' I mean, just press the <- back key on the phone until the home screen appears)

Once this happens, I can 'Force stop' Google Maps, and/or 'Clear data' but nothing fixes this until the phone is powered off and then powered back on.

I've re-verified that the issue remains with the recently released Google Maps 5.7.0.

I've also tested Google Maps 5.7.0 on a non-rooted stock Froyo 2.2.1 T-Mobile myTouch 3G (original, without the 3.5 mm jack). This test unit does NOT exhibit the reported issue.

The disable/re-enable GPS bug ought to be fixed in 20110716

I verified this on my device this morning, thanks!
