Naming inconsistencies

Is there any reason why for some countries you need the nations full name, such as "Tanzania, United Republic of" for getCode(), but for others the country is referred simply by its common name, like "Chad"

Those as the names as provided by the ISO standard. It seems reasonable for this package to follow the standard rather than attempt to make its own decisions about appropriate names.
