Pytorch Lightning seems great, the easiest way would be that you open a small PR with an integration example and then we can discuss it?
The transfer learning part of Transfer NLP aims at providing flexible trainers, so we could imagine having both ignite and lightning versions of the trainers to deal with the differences you mention in your medium post
