Sharing and promoting first contributions

A lot of people find this project online to learn and practice contributing to open source projects.
I still see a lot of people online searching for something like this ( for example asking questions like "How can I start contributing to open source").
Let's discuss here how to reach more people and make this project easier to find

Hi🚨 , I’d like to work on this issue. Could you please assign it to me?

Hi @PriyamJChakrabarty, what specifically would you like to work on?

My proposed method is Collaboration with Learning Platforms.
I think partnering with coding bootcamps, online learning platforms, or open-source advocacy groups to feature the project as a resource for their students would sensitize a good size.

Hi @ikimathi, thank you for your input. I like the idea.

Would you like to take initiative on this? What are some learning platforms that you think would be a good match?

Shout out to sammyhori for adding first contributions to https://github.com/MunGell/awesome-for-beginners

hi, i think its best time to start contribute

Hey @Roshanjossey, I was thinking, featuring the project as a learning resource to coding platforms like Codecademy and freeCodeCamp would actually be a good idea. I mean you could even test this analogy by engaging with a local coding institution/program. (personally I know Moringa School). Such programs have students and alumni, eager to gain hands-on experience, who are likely to make meaningful contributions. And I bet most of these programs emphasize open-source contributions and real-world projects, aligning perfectly with your goal of promoting an open-source initiative. I believe this approach could be a great fire starter.

Hi @ikimathi, like I replied earlier, I like the idea. Would you like to take lead on this?

Alrighty. let me know if there's something I can support with on that direction

Stumbled upon these tutorial repositories through the explore tab within the website, hopefully there are more people are able to at least search for something like that if there isn't one already.

Hi, I’m new to open source and I’d love to share an idea for this issue.
Since many beginners discover open source through YouTube tutorials and college coding clubs,
I suggest promoting First Contributions in the following ways:

  1. Reach out to YouTube creators who teach Git/GitHub basics and ask them to add this repo as a resource link.
  2. Share this repo in college coding clubs / student developer communities so students can practice making their first PR.
If this sounds useful, I’d be happy to help update the documentation with these suggestions.

Hi @SontanamSundari, it is useful. but this issue is not about updating documentation but about action.

  1. Which YouTube creators would you like to reach out to about this?
  2. which college coding clubs, student developer communities can you share this with?
