Hey @glensc ,
thanks for asking! The reason is that maintainerswanted creates an issue on your respective project to automatically delete the entry from our DB once the issue is closed.

point of this issue is to have the explanation in readme or project homepage.
as for issue creation, it can be done with issue template:
and issue close, your project could check periodically referred issues, maybe there's events api available too.
