Noticed several inaccuracies with Canada's holidays;

  • The July 1 holiday is incorrectly named "National Day", the actual holiday name is "Canada Day"
  • Easter (Sunday) is not an official/public holiday in Canada
  • Many provinces are missing the September 30th holiday ("National Day for Truth and Reconciliation")
  • Many provinces have the first Monday of August holiday incorrectly named "National Day, the generic holiday name is "Civic Day"
  • NWT/YT are missing the June 21st holiday ("National Indigenous Peoples Day")
  • YT is missing the third Monday of August holiday ("Discovery Day")
  • QC's Monday before May 25th holiday is incorrectly named "Queen Victoria's Birthday", the actual holiday name is "National Patriots' Day"
  • NS is missing the third Monday of February holiday ("Heritage Day")
  • NB is missing several holidays; Boxing Day, Victoria Day, Family Day, and Thanksgiving
  • MB is missing the September 30th holiday ("Orange Shirt Day") and the third Monday of February is incorrectly named "Family Day", the actual holiday name is "Louis Riel Day"
  • NU is missing the July 9 holiday ("Nunavut Day"), originally celebrated on April 1, 2000 (and moved to July 9 the following year)
  • PE is missing the third Monday of February holiday ("Islander Day"), originally celebrated on the second Monday of February in 2009 (and moved to the third Monday of February the following year)
  • BC is missing the third Monday of February holiday ("Family Day"), originally celebrated on the second Monday of February from 2013-2018
  • AB does not have a public holiday on the first Monday of August, it is an 'optional' holiday that some employers give as a day off

As Canada has two official languages, any incorrectly named and/or missing holidays mentioned above would be incorrect/missing both in English and French holiday description files.
