Can't launch application after installation

jonyeezs opened this issue · 7 comments

Using Ubuntu Mate 1.12.1 (Ubuntu 16.04)

installed via PPA

I get this error when trying to launch the app

mate-session[1363]: WARNING: Could not launch application 'indicator-sysmonitor.desktop': Unable to start application: Failed to execute child process "indicator-sysmonitor" (No such file or directory)

Any idea why it is failing?

not sure - working fine here - ubuntu budgie

this PPA? fossfreedom/indicator-sysmonitor ?

/usr/bin/indicator-sysmonitor - is that executable there?

yes from that ppa.

I'm not sure I have budgie installed?

from terminal if i try to execute that i get:

> /usr/bin/indicator-sysmonitor
INFO:root:start
INFO:root:Menu shown
INFO:root:Fetcher started

(indicator-sysmonitor:25409): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_th
aw_toplevel_updates: assertion 'window->update_and_descendan
ts_freeze_count > 0' failed

That looks ok. Have you got the mate application indicator applet added to your panel? You need that to see application indicators such as this one.

Sorry. I don't use mate. I guess there must be either a right click option on the mate panel or some sort of mate settings application.

@fossfreedom yes there is. But no option to add sysmonitor

not using ubuntu mate any longer. will close this as no one else seems to be chiming in for the same problem.
