I can help with logo and jingle - as I did for the I Love Libre GBG pod

It is great to see that someone else is doing a FLOSS pod.

During the pandemic me and Leif-Jöran did one, maybe a bit more user- than developer-centric. And in Swedish. You can find it here: https://www.oscillator.se/ilovelibregbg/ or here: https://ilovelibre.se/

Anyway, I read that you wanted help with a logo and jingle, and I'd like to contribute. They will both be produced with 100% FLOSS software. :) For reference, here is my image gallery (https://www.oscillator.se/gallery/) and my music (https://www.oscillator.se/music/), all made with free software (except some older pieces).

And a topic idea: FLOSS outreach/evangelism, not only for businesses and developers, but also for the average computer user.

Cheers,

Staffan (staffan.melin@oscillator.se)

We would simply LOVE some help on those fronts @StaffanMelin ! ❤️ 🍰 🎂 🥳

What do you think of this one?

Only mixed in headphones right now, but if you like it I can do a final mix/mastering.

100% FLOSS tools :)

And here is a logo! :)

Made with a font with an OFL license and Inkscape.

Nice

What is the license for the logo and the jingle? Can we fade out/in the jingle?

Disclaimer: if we get more such work (logo and jingles) we might use different for different episodes and we might feel a need in the future to change.

If you apply a license we will start using it directly

Mega thank you Staffan

Thank you @hesa! CC BY SA. Does that work for you? :) And of course you can (and should) fade it. :)

If I understand your disclaimer correctly, I don't think the idea is that good, because both the jingle and the logo is (will become) the identity of your pod, and should not be changed, except sometimes in the future (+2 years?).

I am glad that you like it, and here is some info on how they are made:

Jingle: Debian 11 Stable, Jack, MusE DAW, Surge synthesizer, drumkv drum sampler, airwindows plugins, Calf plugins.

Logo: Debian 11 Stable, Gudariak font (OFL), Inkscape.

:D

@StaffanMelin, sorry for the late reply. I blame the coming foss-north.se :(

About license: 👍

If we provide the attribution (logo and jingle) the same way as we do with the web framework (see bottom https://pod.fossified.com/), would that be OK with?

@hesa: Sounds good!

@StaffanMelin excellent :)
@e8johan and @bagder : FYI, let's try to add this in the coming episode. Keeping this issue open until implemented.

@hesa Here is a final mix! I shortened it a bit, did some minor embellishments and some mastering.

@StaffanMelin

Would it be possible for you to create png files (small, medium, big) from the svg? You decide what sizes.

I've tried with convert but my png file has lots of white space underneath the text..... I am totally lost when it comes to graphics (and all other things in all fairness).

Another thing: I will add "Staffan Melin" (to the footer) and link to https://www.oscillator.se/ - or do you prefer to link to https://github.com/StaffanMelin?

@hesa: no problem, here are 4 different sizes.
fossified_256px
fossified_512px
fossified_1024px
fossified_3000px

Inkscape is a good choice for converting from SVG to bitmaps.

A link to oscillator would be great!

Thanks and good luck!
