I see the latest commit is a few years old.
Is this project still alive?
We have been very, very happy users of jqgrid and later free-jqgrid for many years.
We wouldn't like to see this project die.
If Oleg, the project maintainer, is no longer interested, are there any interested souls out there that are interested in continuing to support and maintain the project (or a new fork). I'd be more than happy to participate...

I've forked the project to add jQuery 3.x support and fixed some bugs. There's no real direction/roadmap other than making sure it keeps working on the latest jQuery. If you're interested: https://github.com/rany2/jqGrid
We've finally added Bootstrap5 support in our fork.
