If you view the audio waveform in something like Audacity, does it look quiet?

No, I use Behold TV to view the audio recording level monitor

What I'm asking is that if the original audio is very quiet? I've found DVDs tend to be very quiet compared to broadcast TV for example. If your source is quiet, the output will be too.
