compare to Huet, verbs, benedictive tense

Opened this issue · 2 comments

This issue summarizes differences and similarities noticed in the comparison of verb conjugations; the methodology is described in the readme for huetcompare/verbs-tp-ben.

There are only 12 roots for which benedictive tense paradigms appear in Huet's sl_roots.xml document
(refer huet_stems_ben.txt ).

As seen in compare_conj_tables_ben.txt, we see that there are several differences in the padas associated with the
roots by Huet and by pysan, respectively.

For the given 12 root-pada combinations of Huet, the comparison of the Huet and Pysan benedictive conjugation tables appears in
(https://github.com/funderburkjim/elispsanskrit/blob/master/huetcompare/verbs-tp-ben/compare_conj_tables_ben.txt),

  • 6 of these conjugations are identical.
    • Note that in the 3p form, Huet uses an ending in 'r', while Pysan uses an ending in 'H', and otherwise the spellings are the same. This difference was ignored in the comparison.
  • The others 6 cases are different. In several of these, there are missing forms in Huet. But also
in the forms present in Huet, there are some differences from the Pysan computation.

This completes the summary of comparisons of the benedictive tense computations.

  • others 6 cases are different

Wonder what book to use for comparison to see who is wrong.
