Additional Huet Forms in sl_final

Opened this issue · 4 comments

Huet has several categories of words in SL_final.xml that have not been previously mentioned.

  • (60000) inflected forms of nominals.
    • some of these are comparable to vocative forms in pysan, and the
comparisons of declensions of nouns and other nominals could be extended to take these additional
      forms into account.
    • It is not clear how these relate to the nominal inflected forms in other files, e.g., in sl_nouns.xml.
  • (11254) iic These are some forms of nominals when used in the beginning of compounds
  • (18900) avya. Described in SL_morph.dtd as right component of avyayiibhaava
Appear to be nominal forms (acc. sing., abl. sing., etc.) which may be used adverbially.
  • (394) iiv. forms of nominals used before auxiliary verbs. e.g.
    • aNgI for aNga with verb kf as verb aNgIkf or nominal aNgIkaraRa
  • (105) pv. verbal prefixes, both singly and in combinations, e.g.
    • anu, pra, anupra, etc.

Although SL_morph.dtd mentions the form <per/> for periphrastic perfect, this does not appear in
any of the data files.

The pysan system does have, following Scharf's nomenclature, a list of periphrastic perfect action nouns for roots which exhibit the periphrastic perfect forms.

several categories of words in SL_final.xml - where is that SL_final.xml? So you have not emailed Huet regarding not clear how these relate to the nominal inflected forms in other files, e.g., in sl_nouns.xml, right?

@gasyoun The Huet data files were obtained from

http://sanskrit.inria.fr/DATA/XML/

Specifically the SLP1 link as seen in this fragment of that web page:

compressed archives (6Mo each, gz format) WX and SLP1.

Now it's https://gitlab.inria.fr/huet/Heritage_Resources/tree/master/XML/SL updated weekly.

  • (105) pv. verbal prefixes

3 years after it's 111 instead of 105, so it's alive.
