Remove Berkeley DB from Operating System Images

marwinski opened this issue · 6 comments

Berkely DB comes with a problematic open source license and must be removed prior to the image being deployed.

There are apparently several places where it is being used (more detailed needed):
pam
apt

Took a look into that – Debian stuck to libdb 5.3 which was released before Oracle changed the license and there seems consent not allowing libdb 6 into Debian - see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=748192 – the problem persists for Ubuntu.

Resolved, latest image does not contain Berkeley DB anymore

Great @marwinski :-)

kudos go to @gehoern :-)

Current Issue does contain BerkeleyDB

Current images do not contain BerkleyDB. Tested with 576.12 and 862.0.
