It seems there is no way to combine cells in a table using markdown syntax. We need to simplify the table or use html instead.

Dr. Liu, But I did see an example online for creating a complex table using markdown syntax. Check this out: http://fletcher.github.io/MultiMarkdown-5/tables.html However, it doesn't work on ours if I follow this example. Wenzhao

That is an extension of original markdown. Github does not use it.

I see. I will break that table into a couple of simples ones.
