Failed to connect to host books.fbreader.org

Yesterday, suddenly the app in one of my Android devices became unable to connect to my personal book network. Every time I attempt to connect I receive the error Failed to connect to host books.fbreader.org I have no problem connecting to books.fbreader.org and seeing my books from the browser in that device or my laptop, or from the app in a different device.
I have reinstalled the app several times, including wiping the data. In fact, since the device in question is an old Samsung Tab 4 7.0 that I use exclusively for reading I wiped it out and rooted it and installed a different rom with a different version of Android just to try to fix this error, and I still get the same error even after reinstalling a new O/S.
I would be happy to provide any more information or run other experiments if it would help. As I was mentioning I use this device exclusively for fbreader so I am happy to try anything you suggest to help debug and fix the issue.
