backspace key unable to delete selected text in editor on M1 mac (sonoma)

When texts were selected and press backspace (the key at the right end of top 2nd row, just beside +, beneath power button) trying to delete it won't work, but fn-backspace worked.
Tried this on original vscode and it worked, is it possible to have this fixed? Thanks.
