no thumbs for posts

tried to assign a thumb to a post. had linked it to the post as follows
image:
feature: feature-image-tunnel.jpg
thumb: thumb-image-tunnel.jpg
the feature image is displayed but the thumb not. had placed both images in same folder as the post.md file and feature image is only displayed when jpg is in post folder.
when I am right it seems that the handle for the thumb is missing in the post.html.twig
