Feature Request: RAID Configuration during Umbrel Setup

MrLately opened this issue · 1 comments

Dear Umbrel Team,

I propose adding RAID configuration options into the Umbrel setup process for improved data redundancy and security. This feature would allow users to select and configure RAID arrays directly during installation, enhancing the platform's accessibility and functionality for those with advanced storage needs.

Key Points:

  • Need for RAID: Offers vital data protection for users leveraging Umbrel for sensitive applications.
  • Suggested Implementation: Introduce RAID setup options (e.g., RAID 1) during initial installation, automating the process with Linux RAID tools.
  • Benefits: Increases Umbrel’s appeal by supporting enhanced data integrity and security, potentially attracting a wider user base.

Integrating RAID configurations would significantly benefit users seeking robust data protection features. Your thoughts and feedback on this suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for considering,
Mr Lately

At a minimum Intel RST and similar should be supported since it's probably just a kernel option that needs to be enabled.
