Freezing / unmaintaining ghuser.io

It has been a great experience to play with ghuser, and even if I still want to have my profile online and fresh, I have less and less energy, time and money to put into this project.
I won't switch it off immediately but I'll probably start doing these kind of things:
- stop on-boarding of new users,
- refresh profiles less often (e.g. weekly instead of daily),
- delete empty profiles.
Many thanks to all the contributors, especially @brillout and @wowawiwa. I'm still reachable/responsive and I'll be happy to help if I can quickly unblock anyone who still wants to contribute.
Thanks for the heads up. Feel free to shut down my profile if it helps you.
Wow - thanks for all your work on this, and sorry to hear that.
Is there a way to download or preserve all the data that has been gathered? I know it will go stale, but if someone else wants to revive the project, invest in server capacity, analyze the data etc. that seems important.
Thanks @nealmcb ! Yes, the entire database is dumped every day. Here is the latest one: https://s3.amazonaws.com/ghuser/backups/2019-07-10.tar.gz
See here for more details.
Very cool. For reference, that DB download is this size compressed
Length: 188578663 (180M) [application/x-tar]
with about 473875 files in it:
3995 users
3875 contribs
224605 repos
1 nonOrgs.json
1 meta.json
224605 repoCommits
16792 orgs
Thanks for this great project!
Have you thought about asking for a small payment to add a profile?
Bitcoin would be perfect for this :-)
