I think this: https://help.github.com/articles/securing-your-github-pages-site-with-https/ is quite new, I remember that I saw it on hackernews when it was posted but I don't remember when that was. And for glfw's case it looks like it more or less should be a checkbox in the settings.
I haven't tried it myself though.

and docs/latest/menudata.js
are 404 over HTTPS.

Did this take a long time? Asking because I have things hosted on github with a custom domain that I have a https proxy in front of... So I'm thinking of how painful that migration would be.

It took from when this issue was created in May, but I'm guessing this was a fluke. The typical time seems to be a couple of days at most.

Yup. First up: verify that symlinks are a good idea in pre-generated GH pages.
